Speak & Spell Voice Generator for Custom Spelling Prompts
Create short spelling prompts with a retro toy-style voice and download them as WAV. This generator synthesizes new speech; it does not reproduce the original Speak & Spell hardware or ROM recordings.
Type one short line, preview it, then download the WAV.

Newly synthesized toy-style speech, not a recording or emulation of the original device.

The preset uses Speed 82, Pitch 60, Mouth 142 and Throat 188. If the letters run together, increase Speed or put each letter in a separate clip. Rewriting a letter as its spoken name can help, but check the recording before using it as an educational prompt.
A small reusable prompt set
Scroll the table sideways on smaller screens.

| Answer | C. A. T. Cat. |
| Retry | Try again. Listen to the word. |
| Next word | Correct. The next word is dog. |
Download and reuse the result
Generate the line, listen, then choose Download WAV. The current exporter produces mono, 22,050 Hz, 8-bit PCM WAV. It downloads generated speech, not a Windows installer or a voice package.
Keep a dry original before trimming or adding effects. If your editor or game requires 44.1 or 48 kHz, convert a copy there. Changing the format does not restore detail absent from the original synthesis. Copy Link preserves the text and four settings so you can reopen the take.
Which voice engine is used here?
This tool uses sam-js, a JavaScript port of Software Automatic Mouth. Microsoft Sam and Software Automatic Mouth are different speech systems. Labels such as Mike, Mary and RoboSoft identify this site's parameter presets; they do not load the original Microsoft or SAPI4 voice binaries.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an exact Speak & Spell emulator?
No. It is a SAM-based toy-style preset for new editable prompts, not a simulation of the original speech hardware.
Can I make individual letter clips?
Yes. Generate one letter at a time, check how it is spoken and save each result as WAV.
Can I download a whole spelling exercise?
You can export the full text as one WAV or put up to twelve short lines into batch rendering for separate files.
